ABOUT ECMOASIA

ECMOASIA is an initiative aimed at providing extra corporeal life support to the patients in need of this life saving modality, irrespective of their location. It also aims at creating an environment for education training and research on Extra Corporeal therapies.ECMO is in its infancy in India although it’s a very well established modality in the Western world. In Asia, there are several limitations that hinder its widespread usage

RESEARCH

Research is the cornerstone of Evidence Based Medicine and ECMO is no different. Unfortunately there is paucity of data from India and we aim to fill the void with Our Research and Publications in the future. International data is now in abundance and available in varying quality of evidence, from case reports to meta-analysis. Of special note is the inclusion of Extracorporeal CPR (E-CPR or ECMO during CPR) as a potential life saving technique in the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) guidelines updated in 2015 by the American Heart Association (AHA). Published research of note includes the “CESAR trial”, and several publications related to all aspects of ECMO summarized in a pdf document published by ELSO.  The relevant links of important publications will be available on this page and updated from time to time.
